midwifery

I have been having an absurd number of pregnancy/childbirth dreams recently. And by absurd, I mean that I've had 2 when I've never remembered dreams with that theme before. The Internet tells me that as long as I'm not dreaming about giving birth to a monster, the dreams symbolize new life stages, personal growth, etc. ...none of that going on here, no sir.

In other news, yesterday was my last day at work. My coworkers threw a luau in my honor and gave me gifts and lavished me with leis, etc. In addition to a fat Target gift card, they got me the Sarcastic Ball from Archie McPhee. When I was opening it up, I thought it was a regular Magic 8 ball and thought "Heh. Cool! I've never had one of these before," and then I realized what it was and started laughing my ass off. "Waaaait a minute here. Are you guys trying to tell me that I'm sarcastic?" I could barely get the words out, I was laughing so hard. My team erupted into laughter and sweet "Oh no, never!"s. It was awesome.

My apartment is nearly empty. I've sold most of my major pieces of furniture (though I still have to sell some small end tables, my kitchen table & chairs and my desk) and finding comfortable seating has been a challenge. I've taken to geeking about in my bed with my laptop, since it seems to be the most comfy place now that my couches are gone, gone, gone. Left to pack up are the rest of my linens, my clothes and shoes (oh the shoes. I counted the other day and I have more than 20 pair. They are not all going to Arizona with me), my kitchen, the tchotchkes I've elected to keep, etc. My books are taking over my life--I have several dozen I'm willing to part with but have been too lazy to try to sell or get some credit at Half Price. Now that I'm living the luxurious lifestyle of the newly unemployed, I shall remedy that posthaste.
